Why we built Mihn
Most software is built to capture your attention, sell you upgrades you didn't want, and quietly extract more than you signed up for. That works on people who aren't paying attention. It grates on the rest of us — and it especially grates on Muslims, because we already have a framework for how to do business with integrity, and most of our tools ignore it entirely.
Mihn is a small refusal of that. It's a client workspace for Muslim video and motion editors who want their tools to reflect the seriousness of their craft and the standards of their faith.
“Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due, and when you judge between people, to judge with justice.”
Amana — trust — is the word we keep coming back to. Your clients trust you with their work. You trust us with your business. We treat both like the weight they are.
What we won't do
We won't charge interest. Ever.
No late fees that compound. No interest on overdue invoices. If a client pays late, you'll send a reminder, not a punishment. The pricing you see is the pricing you pay.
We won't use dark patterns.
No fake countdown timers. No "only 2 seats left" pressure. No checkboxes pre-selected to opt you into things. No hiding the cancel button. If you want to leave, we'll make it one click and we won't ask why three times on the way out.
We won't weaponize notifications.
Email and in-app alerts only when something actually needs you. No engagement-bait, no streaks, no "you haven't logged in in 3 days." Your focus is yours.
We won't sell or share your data.
Not to advertisers. Not to "partners." Not to anyone. Your files, your clients, your messages — none of it leaves our infrastructure except when you export it yourself.
We won't grow at the cost of these values.
If we ever change a position on this page, we'll mark the change, date it, and explain why. No quiet edits.
On payments
Mihn processes payments through Paddle, which uses conventional card rails. The majority of scholars permit this for halal transactions — the riba prohibition is about the contract between you and the customer, not the rails the money travels on. There is no interest in any contract we facilitate.
As Mihn grows, we plan to integrate with Islamic-finance partners so that creators who prefer fully halal-rail processing have that option. Today, the rails are conventional; the dealings are not.
If this matters to you in a way our current setup can't accommodate, write to us. We'd rather lose a customer to a real principle than keep one through a fudged answer.
On content
We don't audit your client work. We trust you to align your projects with your own values, and we believe most of you hold a higher bar than any policy we could write.
What we won't host: pornography, gambling promotion, predatory financial products targeted at Muslims, or content that openly mocks any faith. If we find it, we'll remove it and refund you.
What we don't police: the long grey middle. We're not in the business of telling a Muslim editor what their fiqh allows. That conversation is between you, your scholars, and your conscience.
On data
Your files live on Cloudflare R2, encrypted at rest. Your account data lives on Supabase (Postgres) in EU regions. We're GDPR- compliant whether you're in the EU or not. You can export everything you have in Mihn at any time, in standard formats. You can delete your account and we'll erase your data within 30 days — we'll send you a confirmation when it's gone.
We don't run third-party analytics that profile you. Our analytics (Plausible, self-hosted) record anonymous page views and nothing else. No Google Analytics. No Facebook Pixel. No session recording.
On refunds
Within your first 14 days, any plan, any reason — full refund, no interrogation. After that, we'll prorate the remainder of the period you've paid for. If we ever charge you in error, we'll refund without you having to ask twice.
Talk to us
A real person reads everything that comes in. There's no chatbot in the way.
